Born and raised in Calgary, Barry studied at the University of Calgary, and obtained an Honors Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary majoring in mathematics, in 1971. He obtained his Law degree at the University of Alberta in 1974.
After articling and practicing in Calgary, he moved to Red Deer in 1977. He has practiced continuously in Red Deer since that time as a partner in Vanden Brink & Wilson before joining Warren Sinclair LLP in September, 1990.
Barry concentrates his practice in the areas of Motor Vehicle Injury, Real Estate, Estates and Wills, and Corporate Law.
He has served as President of the Central Alberta Chapter of the Kidney Foundation, a Director of the Central Alberta Group Therapy Society, and a Director and President of the Red Deer Chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Organization. He has also served as a Director for the Red Deer South Progressive Conservative Association.
He enjoys golf, skiing and hockey and helps coach in the Red Deer Minor Hockey Association, where he has coached an all girls team for the past six years.
Barry and his wife, Lynn, have 2 children, Jeff and Kristy.
