Mediation is a form of dispute resolution that is a less formal alternative to traditional litigation.

Interest Based Mediation is a process in which the parties to the dispute, with the assistance of the Mediator, define the issues, explore the source of the conflict as well as the interests behind their "positions" and develop a mutually satisfactory solution that is future focused.

Mediation has a good track record for cost efficiently resolving disputes in a timely manner. Mediation is particularly useful when the parties to a dispute have an interest in preserving or rehabilitating a relationship which could be or has been damaged by the conflict (eg. contractual, estate, partnership, employment, organizational or institutional disputes).
